More Healthy Snacks for the Munchies - Part 2

We loved sharing our favorite healthy snacks for when the munchies take hold that we wanted to share more! With summer here and more time being spent outside, cool refreshing snacks are great for the hot weather and to help with the munchies. Don’t be the one sitting down eating an entire bag of chips – take some of these quick, easy snacks with you on your summer excursions or whenever!
Just remember that even though these are low-cal you should still eat in moderation and get plenty of exercise, water and sleep. OK, enough mom-talk here are some of our favorite munchies-friendly treats!
Kale … we know. We get it. But before you pass this one up, just think of crunchy, slightly-salty, seasoned thin veggie chips. That’s more what these are like than that yucky leafy so-call ‘wonderfood’ that is more of a decoration than a food (c’mon, those of you from the 80s or earlier definitely remember the salad bars with kale used alongside the crushed ice to decorate the toppings – right?!).
They are drizzled with olive oil so go a little crazy with different infused oil (you can find recipes here or places like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods care a plethora of tasty oils), but be careful of the salt content if you use bottled seasoning over fresh herbs. (Btw, use fresh herbs!)

There might be a non-stop discussion about pineapple on a pizza (it’s a no-go, by the way, hehe), but everyone should be able to agree that pineapple on a grill is awesome! Most recipes call for super sweet ingredients that make them too calorie-rich to be healthy snack options for the munchies, but one recipe calls for a small amount of honey with cinnamon and lime juice … wow! Tasty and relatively healthy!
Try a grilled piece of chicken on top and a big salad and you have a meal on its own. Just be careful grilling while smoking. Either grill ahead of time or have a non-partaking friend help out.

Use a mandolin slicer for the best zucchini disks to start off with for this easy-peasy recipe. Hand cutting will give you different thickness of the chips making baking them evenly difficult (impossible?). Not only will a mandolin slicer help with this recipe, but if you don’t use one – you’ll love it!
Anyway, back to the zucchini chips! This recipe also calls for olive oil so like the kale chips, try different infused oils for some tasty varieties. Be careful using these as chips for dipping – if you’re smoking and the munchies take over, you’ll have trouble chowing them down!

Just the name alone should be enough to have MJ users – and non-users – bookmarking this recipe and trying it out as soon as possible! Mango can be a little heavy on the calories, so when you’re at the puree stage try adding 2 parts mango and one part grapefruit juice. You may have to tweak the mango-to-grapefruit juice ratio to your taste, but the slight tartness should help for these being too good!

Make these ahead of time and keep some stashed in your freezer for a quick, cool snack that’s great when you’re partaking. Keep in mind that the added grapefruit juice and (if you choose) lower fat yoghurt will keep the bark from firming up too much.

Slice up some watermelon and top with yoghurt and fresh fruit and it doesn’t get much easier or faster than that! OK, more mom-talk: just be careful cutting up all the fruit if you’ve been partaking. Cut everything up, then smoke/vape/take your edible … then when you get the munchies have a slice of this healthy ‘pizza’.

These are great recipes to have on hand for the summer and great options for the munchies if they start creeping up. OK, promise this is the last mom-talk: just be careful if you’re smoking not to use knives, ovens, grills, open flames, etc. if you’ve been using MJ. Having someone around or prepping everything before you take your marijuana will make your experience much better – and safer!
Happy smoking and have a great summer!
